Oat bran is the nutrient-dense outer husk of oat grain and is a good source of fiber and protein. Oat bran is the outer layer of oat bran, rich in dietary fiber, and the water-soluble fiber (β-glucan) contained in oats can improve satiety, help control cholesterol, help defecation and increase good intestinal bacteria… etc. It can be boiled into oatmeal or added to flour to increase the dietary fiber content of baked goods. It adds texture and imparts a subtle, nutty flavor that's ideal for breads and muffins, and it's a flavourful addition to cereals, or as a topping for breads and muffins that adds color and improves taste.
Soluble fiber from foods such as oat bran, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. A serving of Organic Oat Bran supplies 2 grams of the 3 grams soluble fiber from oat bran necessary per day to have this effect.
